About the board:

Are you looking to switch your Malibu for a short board? Or, if you are just looking for a surfboard for all kinds of waves, the OCII is for you! Having fun riding a lot of waves with disconcerting ease will be your everyday life.

Its Diamond tail and medium rocker makes turns easier, the shape of the board allows the rider to take small or medium size waves easily. Riding the OCII is the next step down from Malibu, designed to be easy to manoeuvre or to take waves easier than with your short board in smaller and weaker waves.

It comes with a centre US finbox and 2 sidefin boxes. Like this you can surf it as single fin, 2+1, or as a thruster- it’s your choice! Ask for a 5-fin setup if you would like to surf it as a quad too.

About the board:

This classic mini Malibu shape will give you the best stability during your take off and turns due to its important volume! The squash tail enhances the turning capacities of the board and the rocker of the board improves its wave catching ability and speed.

This is the best surfboard to begin surfing or to improve your current surf. Even if it’s your first surfboard, you will keep it forever. Always useful to lend to your friends on summer holidays.

This board will be a great ally during nice summer surf sessions

Material used to create collective surfboards
Collective surfboards can be made in 4 construction techniques:

Plain white

Our “Plain White” surfboard line focuses on shape, lightness and budget.

They are manufactured in a sustainable way using mostly European-sourced materials in order to keep the quality high and the environmental impact low!

EPS Core:

Our EPS core has low impact on the environment and is produced just 80 km away from our manufactory! Like this we reduce CO2 emissions due to short distance land transport. It is recyclable and absorbs almost no water due to closed cell high compression. It is one of the most advanced and durable EPS cores for surfboard manufacturing.

Eco Resin:

Our epoxy resin contains about 40% vegetable oil and is the most eco-friendly resin for surfboard manufacturing on the market right now. It is produced in the UK. The properties are promising: flexible to avoid “spider cracks” and durable to surf your board for ages.

All Collective Surfboards manufactured in the “Plain White” production technique have the “Level One” certification from the sustainable surf Ecoboard project.

Resin Tint

Our “Resin Tint” surfboards are made with the same ingredients as the “Plain White” but we add a technique from the 60’s and 70’s to give colour to your surfboard. By mixing pigments to our eco epoxy resin we achieve different colours. Working with resin tint is an art. The process requires a lot of experience, know-how and time. But it is worth the effort, because your surfboard will come out as a unique piece of art!

You can do a different combination of colours. For inspiration you can take a look at the boards we’ve already made.

Tint:

The tinted resin is made by mixing coloured, non-toxic pigments to our eco-friendly epoxy resin. Like this, we achieve coloured surfboards with a cut lap without using toxic, solvent paints.

All Collective Surfboards manufactured in the “Resin Tint” production technique have the “Level One” certification from the sustainable surf Ecoboard project.

Paulownia & Cork:

Using Paulownia wood in surfboard construction is a wise choice. It unites resistance, lightness, rigidity and sustainability! It makes your surfboard very resistant against pressure dings and extends its life for many years. Paulownia is a really fast-growing tree that makes its use eco-friendly and sustainable. The wood lessens the amount of fiberglass implemented on the surfboards, reducing the impact on the environment even more.

The cork rails give our surfboards great flexibility and make them very responsive. On high performance surfboards in particular, you will experience the “pop” just after your bottom turn by gaining extra speed.

Cork has very high resilience. In the case of an impact it will just return to its initial shape. As a result, less repairs are needed. (How to repair your broken Collective Surfboard: link)

The Paulownia deck, bottom and cork rails are reinforced with eco epoxy resin and fiberglass to achieve a smooth and resistant surface.

All Collective Surfboards manufactured in the Paulownia & Cork production technique have the “Gold Level” certification from the sustainable surf Ecoboard project.

Paulownia:

Paulownia wood is known for its water resistance and lightness. Both characteristics make this wood perfect for building sustainable surfboards.

The tree is originally from Asia and is one of the fastest growing trees. In less than 10 years the trees can be harvested and made into surfboards. It has better weight to strength ratio than balsa wood.

Cork :

Cork is made of bark from the cork oak; this material has the advantage of being light, water-proof, flexible, buoyant and best of it all – sustainable! The cork trees are not cut down, as the bark keeps on growing and the cork can be harvested many times. Cork, is one of the most sustainable materials as it is self-regenerating.

To keep transport distances short, we source our Cork from Portugal. The trees are able to live between 1500 to 2000 years and produce a lot of cork during their lifetime!

EPS Core:

Cork Deck

All of our construction techniques (Plain white, Resin tint, Paulownia & Cork Rails) are available with natural cork deck.

The cork deck gives an extra-protection to the deck of our surfboards by its resilience and flexibility. Its slip-resistant properties mean that you don’t need to wax your surfboard anymore!

Depending on the construction technique, our Collective Surfboards have the “Level One” or “Gold Level” certification from the sustainable surf Ecoboard project. (link)
